:O What are you talking about?! Isn't it obvious? You should always clean any fish's tank! If you don't care about how “pretty” the water is, but you DO care about the fish's health, then you should probably know that the water quality actually affects the fish's health. You should clean the tank in parts. Like do 1/3 one day then the second another and the last another day. A filter should help. You should feed your fish everyday like any other fish! Good luck with koi!

no matter what kind of fish you have you need to clean the tank. Since you have a filter in it id say probably every 3 mths or so. . . I think your supposed to feed koi fish everyday. . or every other day. . .

Change the filter/carbon monthly so that the carbon filters the water out to provide clean clear water, and the water should appear clear. Once a week, grab a gravel siphon and a bucket, siphon all the uneaten food on the gravel. Only siphon 25% of the water. For the bonus question, give the koi some of the floating fish pellets and only the amount it can eat in a few minutes every day. Since you care about the health of the fish the most I recommend you fish out the remaining food left behind. Keep in mind they can grow quite large and may need a bigger aquarium possibly a pond. Oh I forgot, I recommend you test the PH monthly.
